One unheralded State Convention delegate from Nuuanu (Oahu) is Marcia Linville who later anounced her switch from the BOE Honolulu District race into the Statewide at-large contest.

Together with former BOE candidates Shannon Wood and myself, Marcia Linville is a devoted member of the Democratic Party. She has frequently expressed her support for library services before the Board of Education and Committee meetings. As a retired librarian & member of the HGEA Retiree's Unit, she will bring a personal and professional approach to the Department of Education's "orphan" branch, The State Library System. When HSTA and the Advertiser endorse or interview, the Library System seldom enters into the discussion or consideration. Yet, the State Librarian is an agenda item in all Board of Education proceedings. It would be the right thing for us to support this lady. I join several of my fellow PD-Hawaii and Labor Caucus members in supporting Marcia Linville's candidacy. She needs your kokua. She deserves your support. Please vote for her in the early absentee balloting which starts Monday, September 8th. The Honolulu Hale locations is one of the most convenient location for Downtown workers to get this task accomplished. For your information, the Windward Mall satellite City Hall has been closed since August 29th, 2008.

The title of your post refers to the convention election results, so readers might be counfused when they read a list of delegates which includes people who lost their positions at the Convention. The two National Committee members, Dolly Strazar and Richard Port, are attending the National Convention as the incumbent (and outgoing) members. Port declined to seek re-election and retired after years of service to the Party and Strazar was defeated in her re-election bid. Their terms expire at the adjournment of the Denver convention. The incoming members, National Committeeman-elect George Ariyoshi and National Committeewoman-elect Jadine Nielson, will assume their positions at that time.
