i was the moderator/note-taker for the environment group. there were six of us, including myself. those in my group were interested in the procedure and process of resolutions at the state convention, so much of the time was spent trying to answer their questions. we did discuss a handful of topics, which included:

~ a resolution calling on the legislature/city council to update building codes to require the use of clean, renewable energy for all new building projects.

~ a resolution calling for the restoration of marine and land environments by combating invasive species.

~ a resolution calling for a program (better program), which should include education, to combat littering and graffiti.

~ a resolution reaffirming the state's commitment to direct public access to all beaches.

~ a resolution calling on the state to do more to combat global warming.

i think these are all good resolutions, though admittedly, i particularly like the ones relating to invasive species and public beach access. unfortunately, i did not at the event have the presence of mind to write down the names and contact info for those in my group. silly me. they all seemed truly interested/excited in getting involved in the process and i hope to see at least some of them at our meeting tonight and/or at the state convention in just a few short weeks.
